Independence Day August 15!

(Emily helping us all out!)

We had Independence Day on Friday August 15! Emily was brilliant in getting us all assembled, and thus we were able to graduate from MC Hammer pants! I braved my aversion towards dressing up and wore a sari, so you will see a lot of pictures of this rare event!

(last year's 2007 MC Hammer pants)

The rain paused long enough for us to go outside this year. Independence Day was all about the concept of freedom, individual versus collective. What you are born with, versus what you can do with you life, and your imagination.

Here are some highlights with my new and old friends, and my awesome students:

(Amy is cool.)

(Gotta get a picture with the boyz!)

(It was so great to be able to celebrate with my students!)

(The two muppets in the back are holding back on their sarcastic thoughts.)

(Yo, namaste G, Eastside!)

Woodstock also holds a lunch for the employees every Independence Day. It was wicked fun to volunteer and serve the rice! My ayah Shivchandi and her family came!

(Former Woodstockers, I know you're nostalgic!)

I totally thought I would post an entry about the documentary, but I keep forgetting to take pictures! We just had a pizza party tonight and a great heated discussion about the parallels between leaving the village and leaving Woodstock. But just to foreshadow, the documentary is in full swing!!! We will have more to report in the following weeks!

Jolly good show! Violin pics quite interesting. Informative narrative. Will follow your year.
