Sainji Gaon and Sukundar Davi

(scroll to bottom to see a few more)

These past few weeks have been so busy! Final exams are over and it's time to go on vacation soon! Here are two of the highlights in the past month, or more like, places that I've actually brought my camera!

In late November, my friend Tamara brought a bunch of us Woodstock teachers to Sainji Village, another village in the Jaunpur area. We attended a double wedding! Kunwar was our host. He used to be the Pradhan (mayor/leader) of the village until their village got picked for the government mandated lottery of having 33% of female Pradhans. Kumar married Lori from Canada, this summer! It was also a happy coincidence to see Grandma from Sarab Talla there, and other Sarab Talla people!

Last weekend, Ruth and I hopped some village jeeps to go to Thatur Village. The experience was really fun, but the jeep ride made me car sick for a very long time!

I also went to the temple at the top of Sukundar Davi, with Mandy. The views were spectacular! We didn't really understand the religious significance of the place, and thus the fun pictures with the monkey god statue.

(Unbelievable!!!)
